lebron and celtics

The  2009-10 season kicks off with the Celtics against the Cavs. Many would probably think this is a preview of the Eastern Conference finals, but I’m not gonna go that far yet, as likely as it seems. While the C’s took care of the Cavs easily in the pre-season, can they do it in Cleveland on opening night?

I’m actually kind of split on this one. I haven’t seen extended pre-season action featuring either of these teams, though I’ve seen a little bit of both. They look solid, but not 100% together (as you’d expect this early), the homecourt factor is gonna make me lean the Cavs way. The Celtics will come out strong, KG will be eager to send a message to the national TV audience that he’s back and of course the whole team wants to show they’re deeper than they were last year. I doubt Rondo will shoot a lot, but maybe he’ll show of his new jump shot form and be effective with it, but the LeBron and Shaq show may be too much for the Celtics.

This is only the first of what will be several meetings for these teams this year. An interesting thing I saw in the pre-season game highlights was Mo Williams pushing and getting into it with Shelden Williams. It was a pre-season game. Do I need to say more about how high the intensity will be when these teams inevitably meet in playoffs?
Should be a great opening night for the Celtics, the Cavs and the NBA.
