rondoshootingAfter two day’s of training camp, it seems the media, blogging world, Celtics players and coaches are all most impressed with the improvements Rajon Rondo has made in his physical stature and on court play.

After working with former Cavs sharpshooter,  Mark Price, all summer on his jump shot, it seems Rondo has made some noticeable improvements. Also noticeable is the 11 lbs of muscle Rondo added to his slender frame in the off-season, muscle that will be very valuable in protecting his body when he is mopping up the floor, drawing contact.

It’s apparent that the most covered story has begun to slightly shift from Kevin Garnett’s recovery, to the emerging jump shot of Rajon Rondo. I cannot say that I am upset that Garnett’s injury is moving to the sidelines after just two days of active play. This must mean Garnett is looking good.

Doc Rivers told the media,

“Kevin looks good! He went through the entire practice today.”

Garnett added that he is about eighty five percent and every day he is getting better. This is excellent news and is allowing the “story” to sway towards the on going evolution of Rondo’s jump shot improvements.

Garnet, obviously excited by what he has seen from Rondo thus far, told the media,

“I’m telling you, man, he is looking great. To me, he is the best looking person in here, and we have some (good looking) people. From (Ray) Allen, to (Rasheed) Wallace, to Big Baby. (Lester) Hudson looks good.”

Garnett added,

“Rondo looks razor sharp”

Though it is early is training camp, this team seems to have so much cohesion as a unit. Early on, it is mirroringthe 2008, championship squad’s “Ubunto” mentality”.

One person who has been unusually quiet through the first two days of camp is Ray Allen. The ever classy Allen, who is never camera shy, has been shockingly quiet.  Knowing Ray, he is probably focused and completely honed in on shooting drills, weights and conditioning.

I will see if I can find some footage of Ray Ray from today’s footage and post later this evening.
