Top 10 NBA Player Rankings
March 5, 2010 by Calvin Chamberlain

This is a list of the top 10 players in the NBA.  The criteria is not who is most important to his team or who should take a final shot.  A player’s age is irrelevant, as this will only be a discussion of ability right now. Sure, I could do an article ranking MVP candidates, but [...]

Update Your Resumes, The Nets Are Looking For A Coach For A Day

Update Your Resumes, The Nets Are Looking For A Coach For A Day

I just applied to be the coach of the New Jersey Nets.  Ok, not the coach but a coach.  So what if it’s just a contest?  They suck so hard I might just get hired.  I know how to draw up side out plays that end in shot clock violations, why not give me a [...]

The Big Ticket Is About To Leap The Worm

The Big Ticket Is About To Leap The Worm

Kevin Garnett is about to break the top 20 for all time rebounds grabbed without much fanfare.  He has snuck up on Denis Rodman’s 11,954 mark which denotes his ascent into top 20 territory.  KG only needs three to tie Rodman and four to bump him out of that elite group.  Kage should grab those [...]

Lakers/Celtics: The Only Regular Season Game That Matters

Lakers/Celtics: The Only Regular Season Game That Matters

I’m going to make a prediction for tomorrow’s Lakers/Celtics game.  My prediction? Pain.  Specifically the hernia I experience after a crushing 96-90 loss.

Normally, I wouldn’t care.  I mean, why should I?  I’m a Laker fan living in Los Angeles. My existence largely consists of double-fisting supermodels and championships while searching for acting roles that do [...]

Newsflash: Greg Oden Has A Penis, Human Anatomy Still Same After 200K Years

If you listen to sports talk radio or watch any cable sports news outlet, you have probably heard by now that there are some unfortunate pictures of Greg Oden surfacing on the magical internet.  Apparently Oden had taken some nude pictures with a cell phone to send them a “lady friend.”  As with all poor [...]

Meet The Bench: Brian Scalabrine

Meet The Bench: Brian Scalabrine

Not many guys in the NBA have the stones to talk junk after a win in which they had nothing to do with, but Scal is not afraid to run his sewer after his teammates did all the heavy lifting.  I don’t know if that makes him more endearing to Celtics fans or not.  Personally, [...]

The battle of Los Angeles: awkward white big-man style

The battle of Los Angeles: awkward white big-man style

Today’s comments by Chris Kaman regarding Pau Gasol and the All-Star voting process in general strike me as a breath of fresh air: one of those rare instances when a talented player’s opinion syncs with that held by many fans, and he chooses to convey it.

Ray Allen is Full of Opinions
January 17, 2010 by Calvin Chamberlain

For many years, the NBA has had a policy of allowing fans to vote for all-star starters, while allowing coaches to select the reserves.  One player who has a problem with this is Celtics guard Ray Allen.

“I like the fact that the fans get the opportunity to vote and pick who they’d like to see in [...]

Frustration, transition, and expectation

Frustration, transition, and expectation

As I began the long descent from my seats in the Garden’s balcony down to the arena’s North Station exit after Monday night’s loss to the Hawks, I found myself awash in a sea of downcast faces, of murmured profanities directed towards Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford, and of more vocal (and colorful) criticisms of the evening’s officials. At one time, I might have been right there, unified in sentiment, invoking the name of Tim Donaghy, seething with pessimism and with my symbolic cub brimming with disgust at the home team’s performance. For a few minutes, my nostrils tingling with the stale cologne of a Heineken spilled on my sweater during Doc’s memorable ejection from the game, I indulged my disappointment…

The latest All-Star balloting makes for sobering reading

The latest All-Star balloting makes for sobering reading

I happened to catch this over on RealGM this afternoon as I was making my daily hoops-site rounds. I loosed a somewhat muted, scattershot form of anger over an earlier batch of All-Star votes in the direction of Tracy McGrady, China, Brian Scalabrine, and uninformed C’s fans, rendering another post on the topic somewhat excessive, but the hell with it: some dead horses just need a superfluous beatdown.

The latest All-Star balloting report, per the NBA’s press release, posted at RealGM…
