Celtics, Big Three Return to the Garden Intact Tonight

After two week’s, All-Star Weekend, the trade deadline passing and five games out west, The Boston Celtics return to the Garden tonight. The C’s last game on the parquet stage was February 7th. An uninspired loss on national television to the Orlando Magic left Stan Van Gundy with the confidence to compare Dwight Howard with [...]

Trade rumor: Ray to the Wizards

Yesterday was quiet when it comes to the obligatory, “Celtics interested in insert-star-player-who-is-on-the-block-for-expiring-deals” trade rumors that flood the major sports sites around deadline time each year. Today’s whisperings that Danny Ainge is discussing dealing Ray Allen to the Washington Wizards for Caron Butler AND Antawn Jamison makes up for yesterday’s dearth of C’s trade talk.

Celtics in Serious Trade Talks with the Wizards for Ray Allen

Celtics in Serious Trade Talks with the Wizards for Ray Allen

As expected, serious talks about dealing Ray Allen are coming from the Celtics front office. The latest round involved Ray going to Washington for Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison. Though the trade is not a done deal, the talks sound to have moved to “serious.”
From Yahoo! Sports via Celticsblog:
The proposed deal would send the expiring [...]

Boston Celtics West Coast Preview– I’m Still a Believer!

Boston Celtics West Coast Preview– I’m Still a Believer!

After yesterday’s meeting of the minds with Red’s Army, I found myself re-reading everyone’s thoughts on why the Celtics are struggling in 2010. I re-enforced my belief to the guys that the root of the team’s struggles are chemistry issues. I was encouraged that the rest of the “round table” found the issues to be [...]

Ray Allen’s Exodus From Boston Looking More Likely

Ray Allen’s Exodus From Boston Looking More Likely

Say it aint so Danny!
As most of you know, I have been an advocate to keep Ray Allen in Boston since the trade rumors initially started circulating. Even with the Celtics in a state of disarray and though I (for a day) flip flopped on whether to trade Ray or not, I still would not [...]

Ray Allen Still Has Banner 18 On His Mind!

Ray Allen Still Has Banner 18 On His Mind!

Ray Allen, the victim of rampant trade rumors recently, was quoted by Julian Benbow, of the Boston Globe(this week’s guest on the Celtics Late Night Show), as offering advise to Rajon Rondo and his aspirations for the 2010 Celtics squad.
From The Boston Globe:
“I told him, ‘You’ve got 10, 12-plus years left in the NBA, you’re [...]

Time to consider dealing Ray? Yes, please.

Time to consider dealing Ray? Yes, please.

I feel the need to get this out of the way before I go any further with this post, as I’ve witnessed some extremely visceral responses to past suggestions that moving Ray Allen might be a beneficial course of action for Danny Ainge to choose. Ray Allen is a consummate professional, one of the greatest shooters of all time, the kind of teammate you’d want beside you in the trenches, and, from everything I have seen, read, or heard whispered while riding the escalator at the Garden, a real family man and class-act off the court. Celtics fans will always be grateful for his contributions 2007-2008, and watching his one-man, 51 pt bombardment of the Chicago Bulls during last year’s playoffs was one of the highlights of my basketball-watching life.

Lakers/Celtics: The Only Regular Season Game That Matters

I’m going to make a prediction for tomorrow’s Lakers/Celtics game.  My prediction? Pain.  Specifically the hernia I experience after a crushing 96-90 loss.

Normally, I wouldn’t care.  I mean, why should I?  I’m a Laker fan living in Los Angeles. My existence largely consists of double-fisting supermodels and championships while searching for acting roles that do [...]

NBA Trade Rumors, Injuries and the Nostalgia of Championships Past

Danny Ainge is in a precarious situation with the brewing Ray Allen debate. It was twenty two seasons ago that Danny Ainge was traded from the Boston Celtics for Joe Klien and Ed Pinckney. The Boston Celtics were faced with a depleted front line as Larry Bird would sit out for the entire season with [...]

Boston Celtics: Does What Ray Allen Want Really Matter?

Boston Celtics: Does What Ray Allen Want Really Matter?

Ray Allen’s expiring contract has now taken center stage. During the eight months we have seen the future of Glen (Uno Uno) Davis and Rajon Rondo come into question, get shopped and remain in Boston with higher paid salary extensions. Now Ray Allen’s future seems to be going down the same path. Hearing sound bytes [...]
