Game Preview: Bulls vs Celtics
October 30, 2009 by Matt Golden

Tonight marks the first time the Bulls play the Celts since their legendary first round matchup last year in the first round of the playoffs. In case you don’t remember, they played 7 games, they all went to 3 OTs, and featured game winners. I exaggerate of course, but only a little. Let me give you two big reasons this game will be different, one matchup to focus on, and a hopeful prayer for the stars of both teams to stay healthy.
- 2 New additions of old faces – When they met in the playoff last year, the Celts were without Garnett and the Bulls were without Luol Deng. Tonight both will return, but only one will fundamentally change the dynamic of the game. Jokim Noah ran wild in the paint last year against the Celts as he was far too athletic for Perkins and too long for Big Baby. Look for that to change tonight. Deng was less than sharp in the preseason but looked good in the opener. He is a great effort guy and a slasher with limited range on the wing.
- Matchup of the night – Rondo v. Rose – To me, this matchup is what elevated the series last year to legendary status. Look for these two to go full boar at each other all night, that is unless…
- Rose’s tender ankle holds up. Let’s hope it does. As well as the nightly prayer for KG’s health.
Useless Prediction: Celts 103, Bulls 82
