KG and Company Talk: The First Day of Training Camp
September 29, 2009 by Nick Gelso

The Celtics are entrenched in Newport, R.I.
For the first time since last March, the entire roster was on court and partaking in training. The additions of Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels are starting to set in and coverage of today’s practice felt similar to those in Rome in 2007.
Aspiring Celtic, Mike Sweetney commented on the closeness of the Celtics unit, a quality that has been a Celtics trait
renewed by their championship campaign in 2008.
Kevin Garnett is smiling again as the tension has begun to ease regarding his recovery. Rasheed Wallace, never short on words, granted Celtics.com another interview. Paul Pierce, sporting a fresh haircut, looked like the weight of the world is off his shoulders as having the roster intact and healthy may benifit him the most.
Though, for the moment, Marquis Daniels is said to be filling the backup point guard role for Rondo, Pierce’s relief has not yet been defined. Even without a defined back up small forward, Pierce should see a (welcomed) dip in playing time because, with the re-signing of Big Baby and the additions of Daniels and Rasheed Wallace, the second unit has more offensive punch.
Today, most Celtics players discussed the improvement of the second unit. Declaring them a very intellegent unit capable of being some NBA team’s first unit – a point I made way back on July 24th.
NSS has posted interviews by Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Kendrick Perkins and Rasheed Wallace below. Enjoy!
