North Station Sports Best of 2009
January 1, 2010 by Nick Gelso
2009 saw many ups and downs. A strange year to say the least. We saw the passing of entertainment legend Michael Jackson, political king Edward Kennedy and sports icon George Michael.
In 2009, Barak Obama, the first African American President, was inaugurated. We also saw The dreaded Lakers and Yankees become champions again.
Unfortunately, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq raged on in 2009 and the economy continued to slump.
In 2009, we launched the first version of North Station Sports, The Boston Celtics News Station. In May, We created a basic blogspot weblog. I can remember when we reached 25 readers in one day and feeling so excited about it. In August we launched today’s version of the site and changed the name to North Station Sports. Thanks to the amazing writers at NSS and “technology czar“, Jeff Chaimpi, we can now proudly say that the site has grown to a level I never expect and we now have viewers all over the globe. Thank-you to the staff of NSS and, most importantly, thanks to the readers who make it all worth it.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the guys at Red’s Army, Celticsblog, Ginos Jungle, NBAtipoff, Boston Sports then and Now, 4 Sport Boston, Loscy, Loy’s Place, Celtics17 and Banner18 for your friendship, support and advise.
I, personally, would like to give Jay King from Celtics Town a big thank-you for encouraging me to continue writing at a time when I was considering letting the site go. By the way, check out the new professional look of the newly renovated, Celtics Town.
To celebrate the new year, we have compiled a list of the top 10 most read articles of 2009. Basically, it’s a “best of NSS” created by you, the readers. It also gives you a glimpse into the progressions the site has made and a look back at the Celtics and NBA in 2009.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the shout and the props. I wish your site and you personally all the best for 2010. Also liking the late-night sports show on BlogTalkRadio. I can’t promise I’ll be able to hang until 1am every Sunday, but I’ll damn sure try! -KWAPT
