The Celtics Can Still Play Basketball– Sigh of Relief
March 13, 2010 by Nick Gelso
In what’s become a ritual, Travis Hilden and I texted eachother throughout Friday night’s game. Just as the Celtics had played their best basketball since March 3rd, our texts seemed to take on a different tone. Upon re-reading our short conversation this morning, I thought it would be cool thing to highlight the conversation here at North Station Sports and let you see how a gratified fan base reacts to the Celtics playing up to their standards. I think it’s appropriate after both Travis and I seemed to agree with the batch of boo’s that poured down on the Celtics during Wednesday’s embarrassing loss to the Grizzlies. Our conversation started at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter:
Travis: That KG chest pound was different tonight– it had more meaning. I’m no body language reader but I think they really took the boo’s to heart.
Me: I would hope they would.
Me: The second unit looks great. I am liking Finley in there.
Travis: Finley does look great. I love it when Nate does this too.
Me: Me too. He was a great pick-up (Sorry Lee– lol)
Travis: Love the bench right now, like you said.
Me: I have for the last several games
Me: I love what I’m seeing.
Half Time:
Travis: The team deserved a standing-o at the half.
Me: I agreed at first but I think the fans are still hesitant to get too excited.
Travis: Ya– haha. I know but after getting booed, I think they deserved it for the effort.
Me: I agree with you there.
Me: I thought the same thing.
Me: Go Celtics!
Third Quarter:
Travis: They are playing hard and that’s all we ask for– it just so happens that a 20 point lead comes with that. Haha.
Me: Yepper.
Me: They are having a ball and playing with flair, focus, fire and lots of chemistry.
Travis: Exactly! It’s fun to watch too.
Me: Beautiful to watch.
Me: Great stuff!
Me: Niiiiiiiiiiiiice!
Travis: Well the offense is there. Haha. Shit!
Me: Crowd should be more into this game.
Travis: Many too many soldiers at the game, hahahaha. (That was a joke)
Me: hahahahaha
Me: He’s automatic (Nate)
4th Quarter:
Travis: I like games where I can relax at the end of games. Gino time!
Me: Yup. I love games that put me in a good mood.
The End
Short and sweet. I have not seen a conversation between Travis and I recently where adjectives like “Great stuff,” “Niiiiiiiiiice,” and “beautiful to watch” was used to describe the Celtics play. Lets hope some of this carries over to our show-down with the Cavs on Sunday night.

I could never do something like this. Mainly because my phone is stupid and it requires that I push about 8 buttons every time I send a text.
