I think every writer reaches a point, early on in their career, where they have felt that maybe writing is not the profession or hobby for them. Whether it was writers block, lack of traffic to your site or frustration over finding the time to frequently post, we all have experienced that feeling.  I reached that point in my third month of writing for North Station Sports.

When Dean Hybl, owner of Sports Then and Now, contacted me to write for his site back in July, I was hesitant at first. I had launched North Station Sports just 5 months earlier and, as the off-season had begun, I was having some writers block and struggling to find time to create new posts.

Being relatively new to blogging and contemplating my future in the blogging world, I was taken back when I received an email from such an accomplished blogger asking me  to contribute to there site. After a lengthy conversation, Dean had convinced me that the Sports Then and Now concept was the perfect platform for my style of writing.

Sports Then and Now is a unique marriage of  history and how it relates to the sporting events of today.  Having read my articles at NSS, you know my posts often refer back to the “glory days” of basketball.  Needless to say, I felt very “at home” from the start at Sports Then and Now.

Riding the momentum created at Sports Then and Now, Dean now incorporate regional areas into his brand by launching sites in BaltimoreChicago, and Boston. I am proud to say I have become a regular contributor to Boston Sports Then and Now.

Having written articles about Michael Jordan, it was only fitting that my posts have also appeared on Chicago Sports Then and Now.

Soon after my first post, Larry Bird: The Sudden and Saddening Demise of a Basketball Legend, appeared on Boston Sports Then and Now, I began to feel inspired again by the response that post generated. I quickly posted two more articles on Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, hoping to build on the momentum created by the Larry Bird post. The momentum I credit Sports Then and Now for creating has continued to the present.

You must visit the Sports Then and Now sites to recognize the fact that basketball is only the beginning of the story. The Sports Then and Now sites are not limited to my posts on NBA basketball. Covering such varied topics as baseball, football, hockey, golf and NASCAR. Following the theme of past and present, Sports Then and Now reaches such reminiscent subjects as ”vintage athletes”, a look at the great athletes that forged the way for today’s stars, “Classic Rewind”, a flashback of some of Football’s greatest contests, and “Great Moments”, re-visiting the images and memories that still make the hair on your arms stand up.

Sports Then and Now is my source for sports related news and opinion based articles. The subtle references to past events has helped me to learn more about sports I do not have the time to follow, such as golf and NASCAR, two sports that have always bored me. The compelling style in which Sports Then and Now’s contributing writers have conveyed these topics have peeked my interest for sports tidbits I had never considered myself a fan of.

Gone are the days of me having to avoid such sporting topics with my family at Sunday dinner.

I encourage you all to visit the family of sites at Sports Then and Now.
